Transportation Demand Management (TDM) is our way of helping reduce the stress, cost, and carbon-footprint created by vehicle access and parking demand at East Carolina University. By finding and implementing greener, alternative transportation options, we hope to provide students, faculty, staff and the greater ECU community a means to not only eliminate the headaches and hassles associated with moving around and about campus, but also help protect the environment by reducing inefficient and wasteful vehicle use. Please look through the alternatives currently implemented by Parking & Transportation Services and ECU, and see what is available for you.
Our department has several alternative modes of transportation available to the ECU community to include:
- Pirate BikeShare
- Bike Rental Program
Our department would also like to remind everyone of another great department, the ECU Student Transit Authority, which helps get students where they need to go, both on and off campus. With their fleet of buses, they provide transportation to various locations on campus, apartment complexes, and business locations around Greenville.
SafeRide is also available to students after the busses stop running. Please visit their website under the menu to the right for more information.
In addition to the Transit bus system and SafeRide, students can also utilize the ECU Police Department to escort them after hours to their dorms or vehicles. Please visit their website located under the menu to the right to view other great courtesy services the Police Department on campus provides.
Our department knows how vital it is for everyone to try to do their part to protect our planet. In hopes of contributing less to the carbon foot-print on campus, we have invested in Eco-friendly GEM eS electric vehicles for our officer's! These vehicles are similar to golf carts, go up to 26 mph, and are completely legal on the streets.
