Community Connections

To be a national model for student success, public service, and regional transformation, East Carolina University and The College of Arts and Sciences will “promote core values that include lifelong learning, leadership, scholarship and research, and service.”

The College of Arts and Sciences will provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to become responsible citizens and leaders in a diverse 21st century society. Students will demonstrate leadership in their professions and communities.

The College of Arts and Sciences is committed to community engagement, and we will forge, cultivate, and strengthen strategic partnerships with key constituents in Pitt County and in the broader region that advance our institutional mission. We will raise the public profile of the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and mathematics, and each department within the College will develop a signature outreach partnership.

The College of Arts and Sciences’ students, faculty, and staff will discover new knowledge and innovations to support a thriving future for eastern North Carolina and beyond. They will work toward finding solutions to the challenges of our region, state, and nation, which will lead to a brighter tomorrow.

The College of Arts and Sciences will inspire the next generation of leaders to carry the spirit of service into their professional lives.
