Transferring Students

The distance education undergraduate degree programs at ECU are online degree completion programs. Students complete the first two years of college courses typically at a community college in their area. Upon nearing completion of these courses, you should apply and have your transcripts evaluated by the admissions office.

Office of Undergraduate Admissions website

Transcripts will be evaluated on the basis of East Carolina University requirements and may differ from transfer credit awarded by other institutions. To have a transcript evaluated, the student must have on file in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions an application for undergraduate admission, the application fee, and an official transcript from each school previously attended.

What courses will transfer?

Comprehensive Articulation Agreement

The North Carolina Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) is a statewide agreement governing the transfer of credits between N.C. community colleges and N.C. public universities and has as its objective the smooth transfer of students. This agreement has been approved by the Board of Governors of the University of North Carolina and the N.C. State Board of Community Colleges. The CAA provides certain assurances to the transferring student; for example, the CAA identifies community college courses that are appropriate for transfer as electives. Courses that will satisfy pre-major and general education requirements are also specified.

College Foundation of North Carolina Transfer Student Planner

Student Transfer Planner provides a course equivalence report for students who have taken or plan to take courses at any of North Carolina's postsecondary institutions. Students may compare course equivalence for any two institutions at a time in three easy steps. Course equivalence information is available for courses transferring from all NC community colleges to NC colleges and universities.
